What you'll do

We're very excited about these experiences. Run in partnership with High Dalby House - a fabulous boutique retreat - you're in for a real treat.

And the location couldn't be more perfect. Set in the middle of Dalby Forest, it's been confirmed as the darkest place in North York Moors.

But first, there'll be warming drinks and delicious hot food  all prepared by our wonderful hosts, Ian and Linda, from High Dalby House.

Afterwards, we'll take you on a short, sensory and mindful night-time meander around the woods. Why? Because it's fun! Walking at night is such an incredible thing to do because it makes you feel amazing. It enhances your outdoor experience because you'll see and hear so much more. And you'll feel more alive, refreshed and connected to this wonderful planet too.

This will be followed by our wonderful astronomers from SARAS, who will point out a few things in the night sky. You'll be able to look at celestial objects through telescopes too. But if it's a cloudy evening they've got a few things lined up indoors, so you'll still learn lots and be amazed.

Want to stay over to reap the wellbeing benefits for longer? Head to this section.

They've recently landscaped their grounds too, which are totally stunning. It's worth staying over and reaping the benefits of these beautiful gardens and Dalby Forest. You'll find more details about High Dalby House right here.

Although this is easier than other Adventures for the Soul's experiences, this is NOT an easy access walk. The walk length is around 1/2 mile on rough paths, over some gradients and includes steps and some mud. If you are in any doubt whether this is suitable, please contact Alison before you book.

We recommend what to wear and bring with you for your safety. Please ensure you follow this guidance and refer to our Terms and Conditions before booking. Please note booking fees are non-refundable.

Meet your Leaders and Hosts

Alison runs Adventures for the Soul and is passionate about the natural world and the outdoors. She holds a BSc degree in Environmental Management and PGCert in Tourism, Conservation & Sustainable Development. A dark sky enthusiast, former Zen Buddhist and qualified yoga teacher for many years, she's taken people to some of the most stunning areas of the UK on wellbeing and walking holidays since 2009.

Nick and colleagues from SARAS (Scarborough & Ryedale Astronomical Society) are our astronomers for the evenings. Passionate about the night sky with lots of experience enthusing others, they'll be bringing their telescopes so you can see the wonders of the universe. If cloudy, not to worry! They've lots of things to show you - and it will still be awe-inspiring.

Your hosts - Ian and Linda - moved to the tiny hamlet of High Dalby, following their dream of creating a place of blessing. They love welcoming guests, while their food is delicious! We recommend staying over for a total retreat experience.
