Magical Night 'Awe-Walk' to see the Geminids Meteor Shower

Kilburn White Horse, North York Moors National Park, England

As featured in the Yorkshire Living Magazine

Run in partnership with AFS Mountaineering

What you'll do

The Geminids meteor shower is one of the most spectacular, producing up to 100 meteors an hour at their peak. Known for their multi-coloured tails of white, yellow, green, red and blue, and the odd fireball, it can be quite a display!

Of course we can't guarantee we'll see it quite like this!

But heading out in the dark is especially magical, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas. Everything glistens — sparkling village lights below, beads of water droplets on leaves and cobwebs in torchlight. Coupled with taking you on a night walk, dark skies experience that'll uplift and reconnect you to the universe, you may even feel a sense of awe and wonder.

During this evening you’ll learn about planet earth, the night sky and deep time. We’ll also show you some simple, secret techniques that bring you to this present moment, so you discover so much more.

Please note, we can't guarantee the weather, but even if it's cloudy, scientists have now proved embracing the dark is good for the soul and strangely calming too.

Perfect before you get tied up in the busyness of Christmas!

Further information - PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

Although the walk is only (around) 4 miles long and mainly on footpaths, there are sections of mud and very rough ground in places. Please note, there are steep   hills  - including one section that is particularly long and steep heading up to the plateau, plus lots of steep, uneven steps back down to the car park.

For your comfort, a good level of fitness will be needed for this activity.

Please refer to our   Terms & Conditions   before   booking. Please note booking fees are non-refundable.
